A graduate of the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, Pauline Pastry explores the industrial environment and the evolution of working conditions through a practice that combines photography, video, sculpture and publishing. From dance to the perception of gesture through video, Pauline Pastry's research is part of an interpretation of the body at work. During her residency at Bernard Controls, she invited operators to focus their gaze on their professional gestures and everyday materials in the factory. Photographic compositions have been developed collectively in order to stage technical objects with a strictly aesthetic aim. Pauline Pastry has also invested the professional gestures of certain operators through a choreographic prism. Each of the participants in the filmed performance 6DDL thought out their work movements to reinterpret them outside the workshop in front of CCTV cameras. Finally, when Pauline Pastry films the painters in their zone, she reveals to us the rhythm of a dance sequence. These moments of concerted creations between the operators and the artist testify to a time of latency and a few "degrees of freedom" drawn from the hours of work to adjust body and gaze to a poetic will.

Diplômée de L’École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Paris, Pauline Pastry explore le milieu industriel et l’évolution de la condition ouvrière à travers une pratique mêlant photographie, vidéo, sculpture et édition. De la danse à la perception du geste à travers la vidéo, la recherche de Pauline Pastry s’inscrit dans une interprétation du corps au travail. Pendant sa résidence à Bernard Controls elle a invité les opérateurs à décentrer leur regard sur leurs gestes professionnels et les matériaux du quotidien en usine. Des compositions photographiques ont été élaborées collectivement afin de mettre en scène des objets techniques dans une visée strictement esthétique. Pauline Pastry a également investi les gestes professionnels de certains opérateurs à travers un prisme chorégraphique. Chacun des participants à la performance filmée 6DDL a pensé ses mouvements de travail pour les réinterpréter hors de l’atelier face à des caméras de vidéosurveillance. Enfin lorsque Pauline Pastry filme les peintres dans leur zone elle nous en révèle la rythmique d’une séquence dansée. Ces moments de créations concertés entre les opérateurs et l’artiste témoignent d’un temps de latence et de quelques « degrés de liberté » puisés dans les heures de travail pour ajuster corps et regard à une volonté poétique.
