Despite the bricking and emptying of many neighborhood businesses on Jianchang Hutong, Arrow Factory endures. We are extremely pleased to present a new video work by Tian Dongliang and the Social Sensibility Institute entitled I’m Sorry. Re-purposing the window frame from our previous project, Yang Zhenzhong’s Fences, and swapping Yang’s mirror with clear glass, the Arrow Factory façade is now a portal into Tian’s tenacious video performance. Arms raised and fists clenched, Tian re-enacts a heavily shared news image of a Syrian toddler, who, hands raised in fear, believed that the photographer’s camera was a weapon turned upon her. Tian sustains the posture for as long as he can bear before dropping his arms in defeat and walking away.
The title, I’m Sorry, expresses a need for atonement. Tian had a tumultuous early childhood – at six years old he recalls the antics of his loan shark family members. One disquieting afternoon he returned from school to a house stripped clean of everything – his dodgy neighbors and relatives nowhere to be found. A particularly itinerant period during his youth saw him moving with his family to strange towns, switching multiple schools and holding numerous odd jobs. Through these challenging personal experiences, Tian developed a particular interest and expertise in the study of the craft of scams. He analyzes and scrutinizes different methods of deception; his findings informing his complex and layered worldview. Tian’s re-enactment of surrender in the video speaks to an acknowledged sense of helplessness from all sides.
Tian Dongliang (b. 1990, Henan Province) is in his first year working on the assembly line at Bernard Controls. He is a machine operator on the factory floor.

尽管箭厂胡同的许多邻里商铺都被封墙清空，箭厂空间还是幸存了下来。我们特别荣幸地展出《对不起》，由田栋梁和社会敏感性研究所共同完成的视频作品。继续保留我们上一个展览（杨振中《栅栏》）窗户的框架结构，取掉原先的双面镜子代以透明玻璃，箭厂空间现存的窗洞成为通向田栋梁强烈的表演视频的入口。影片中他举起双手，握紧拳头，对一个关于叙利亚幼童的热点新闻照片进行了再表演——原图片中她惧怕地举起双手，认为摄影师的相机镜头是一件对着她的武器。田栋梁保持着这个姿势直到他无法忍受，于是挫败地松下双臂并走开。
标题《对不起》传达了一种对赎罪的需求。田栋梁有过动荡的童年——他回忆起六岁时因家人放高利贷而惹祸上身，在某个不安的下午，他放学回家发现所有东西都被清空，抢掠的人也包括自己的亲戚。从那以后，他跟随家人逃到陌生的城市，换过多所学校，做过各种零工。通过这些具有挑战性的个人经历，田栋梁对诈骗技巧的研究产生了某种兴趣和专业知识。他分析并审视不同的骗术; 这些发现塑造了他复杂而多层次世界观。在视频中，田栋梁对于屈服的再次扮演表达出对无奈的认同感。
田栋梁（1990年生于河南）在伯纳德公司的生产线上工作了一年，他的主要工作是操作工。

Malgré le briquetage et le vidage de nombreuses entreprises du quartier de Jianchang Hutong, Arrow Factory perdure. Nous sommes extrêmement heureux de présenter une nouvelle œuvre vidéo de Tian Dongliang et du Social Sensibility Institute intitulée I'm Sorry. En réutilisant le cadre de la fenêtre de notre projet précédent, les clôtures de Yang Zhenzhong, et en remplaçant le miroir de Yang par du verre transparent, la façade Arrow Factory est désormais un portail vers la performance vidéo tenace de Tian. Les bras levés et les poings serrés, Tian reconstitue une image d'actualité fortement partagée d'un bambin syrien, qui, les mains levées de peur, croyait que l'appareil photo du photographe était une arme tournée contre elle. Tian maintient la posture aussi longtemps qu'il peut le supporter avant de laisser tomber ses bras en signe de défaite et de s'éloigner.
Le titre, Je suis désolé, exprime un besoin d'expiation. Tian a eu une petite enfance tumultueuse – à six ans, il se souvient des pitreries des membres de sa famille d'usuriers. Un après-midi inquiétant, il est revenu de l'école dans une maison dénudée de tout – ses voisins et parents louches introuvables. Une période particulièrement itinérante au cours de sa jeunesse l'a vu déménager avec sa famille dans des villes étranges, changer d'école et occuper de nombreux petits boulots. Grâce à ces expériences personnelles stimulantes, Tian a développé un intérêt et une expertise particuliers pour l'étude de l'art des escroqueries. Il analyse et scrute différentes méthodes de tromperie ; ses découvertes informant sa vision du monde complexe et stratifiée. La reconstitution de la reddition de Tian dans la vidéo témoigne d'un sentiment d'impuissance reconnu de tous les côtés.
Tian Dongliang (né en 1990, province du Henan) est dans sa première année de travail sur la chaîne de montage chez Bernard Controls. Il est opérateur de machine dans l'usine.
